"America"

This is "America" from the assorted statues in front of what was the old NYC Customs House. It's the Museum of the American Indian now. Anyway I happen to really like the "America" Statue there.

No reason...I just do.

Btw before the illegal I.R.S. was forced on us "Customs" was how the government got it's money. Hence all those impressive Customs Houses around our swell Republic.  They were built for a reason,...ahem.

  1. Love all this neoclassical grandiosity from a time before American labor got sold out to wage arbitrage and globalism. And it was even okay to make public art based on, you know, beauty, as well as competence in antiquated skills like anatomy and artisanship. All that's missing are some sprightly youthful male nudes. I say we reestablish the customs house to fund such fine art for the elevation of civic spirit and the pub(l)ic weal!

  2. Yes by all means.

I say we commission some likely artist to reproduce Caravaggio's "Love Victorious" in marble..say the size of what's his name's David.

Never liked his David. For one he's 10/12 years older than the real one, ...least as he's portrayed in the fable, and far far too butch!
