I wonder where the "fins" came from in the first place. I mean there had to be some guy at an early 50's ad agency that walked into a wall, and came up with it.
Sure everybody laughed at him he got fired, but then they sat down thought about it, and bleeping did it. Thereby making iconic cars that identified a whole era.
The fired guy that came up with it later joined the NSA as a hit-man, and killed Kennedy.
