"HISTORY"

YOU KNOW THAT YOU 'LOVE'  LITERACY, AND HISTORY. IF THE BURNING OF THE LIBRARY AT ALEXANDRIA THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO STILL PISSES YOU OFF. UPSETS YOU, AND FILLS YOU WITH A RESOLVE THAT 'NOTHING' LIKE THAT WILL 'EVER' HAPPEN AGAIN!

  1. Great movie. I love the armillary sphere sitting next to the philosopher-libarian: a model of the Ptolemaic universe. Still works fine for navigation.

I think we can take it for granted that things like that *will* happen in the future, in fact they're happening now - look at the Daesh dipshits and the temple of Baal recently. Dark ages are boom times for bloody-minded vandalism. Make multiple copies of your stuff, and any other work you value, and spread it around geographically. Fanatical collectors are a probably a pretty good bet for conservation, and less prone than big institutions like libraries to come to the attention of the aforementioned vandals.

  2. Well that was my plan years ago. My drawings are all over the world now thanks to the various blogs I've done in the last decade. I've seen my work turn up mostly unattributed from Australia to Russia to Brazil.

    So far so good.

I just hope my comrade perverts copied the stuff onto good paper.

Or if the work is just sitting on hidden zip drives in trunks attics basements caves or in orbit fine. I think in the near future they'll be the tech to decrypt pretty much anything. Especially since now people are beginning to realize all the crap they're saving on their I-Phones will be lost in a few decades.

This is the push behind the common decrypt programs that will be common soon. Still I hope they put the stuff on good rag paper anyway.

One fine day in say the 26th century or later. A scholar with some cultural artifact recovery agency will come upon a hoard of either ancient zip drives or a pile of rag-paper. These from the late 20th to early 21st centuries. They would be inscribed with the most lovely drawings , and prose.

That would be you, and me speaking to the world again.
