"An Answer to the Comments"

(Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis)

Ed my dear reader, and comrade.

Sorry I didn't get to the comments till now. We're having a heatwave sorta in the Emerald City, and was temporally over come by an Iced Tea Over Dose.

Hint stay away from that special super sugared Southern Ice Tea stuff. It's the only poison I allow myself what with having that diabetes thing'n all.

But I digress.

To the shock, and dismay of my other dear comrades here. I agree with you completely. Kim Davis Ky. County Clerk is a woman of faith as you said confronted with something she 'Never' in her life thought would happen.

Actually I can hardly believe it either.

Queer marriage all over the place! Remember what Quintin Crisp said "You'll know you're free when you, and your cause becomes boring".  The world of the Straight Gays is nothing if not that.

This is another thing I thought I'd never see.

As for dumping on this lady who's caught between Horse Shit, and a sticky place. She does in fact have my sympathy,...though yes I put it in rather a nasty way..."Nazi Scumbag"  "...wasting our time"  "religious stupidity" or some such I think I said.

Mind you the anti Queer movement is to my seeing a gang of book burning Nazi bastards.  The individuals within it are however people so are we...in a way. If I came off bitter it's because I am. As I said I've seen this before. Old time segregationists that evaded, and delayed. They could just not abide by the 1964 Civil Rights Act...still can't.

As you've noticed this country is still very segregated 50 years later.

That's the lens I was viewing this through. Sympathy for her Faith driven act yet exasperation at seeing evasion, and delay of hard won rights. ...again. I feel sympathy for them anti-abortion folks as well,....excepting their terrorist wing.

Faith drives the sincere of  among them too.

It still drives my Better Angels.

So to all perhaps I should have been 'more' openly generous in Spirit in this post. My weariness, and bitter anger after a life time of struggle drove it.  So yeah it was a thoughtless post. Snarky nasty, and not taking the humanity of these events into consideration.

I did exactly what I'm always saying the bad guys do.

Hopefully tho' you got the larger point that freedom is tired of waiting for folks to get used to the idea that Queers, and Niggers are people.

This is tough for everybody, and yes maybe I should have written in a more serious mode. I didn't. I'm human. Being human I can, and do hold diametrically opposing points of view at the same time...as do we all.

To my other dear comrade posters.

Sorry if you all had your steam raised there for a bit. Remember everybody can say whatever they want here. In all the years I've blogged that's been what this is about. You long time comrades will know this.

Alright yeah you got pissed at Ed. Bleep happens. Though in future try to be less,...um..Rambunctious in attitude to opposing comments. Unless it's really witty, and funny.

Otherwise play nice.

Ed I hope this scary event will not discourage you from reading or posting again. To my other pals I hope my comments don't make you feel I'm more of a a back tracking weasel than you already thought.

Stay Tuned.

We now continue with our blog which is already in progress.

  1. Thanks Sid,

I'm as queer as anyone else around this place, and am hurting because a dear friend who has also appeared in these pages is unjustly in the slammer for what could well be the rest of his life, on trumped up charges of a sexual nature. I am angry, but ... I am indeed a Christian, and, yes, I believe that commits me to a moral lifestyle many now consider outdated, but you'll never find me expressing hatred for those who see things differently. I see bigotry of any kind as a far more serious thing than failure to live by what I see as moral standards. Jesus agreed with me - he was scornfully called the friend of sinners, and I hope to merit the same. What distresses me is when I hear fellow queers committed to the same attitudes that distinguished Fred Phelps on the opposite side. Hate is hate, and seems a decidedly weird reaction in the midst of a debate about who one should love. We're all in this together. We inhabit the same world, and with all our differences we need to learn how to live together.

This clerk is being screamed at from every side and threatened with dire consequences - and she never asked for nor expected all this. You know, it is inconvenient and, yes, a little demeaning to have to run over to the next county,
but it's doable and fully legal, and those who want same-sex marriage have won a major victory that is acutely uncomfortable for many fellow citizens. Isn't it time to work at binding wounds and healing divisions?

I've been hanging around this place for a long time now, and I'm not going anywhere. I guess "Anonymous" and I are stuck with each other. Let's just learn how to walk our different but intertwined paths together.

  2. I am sorry - when a person chooses to live their life based on a fantasy fiction, they should get no slack when reality interferes. That she "never expected" it to happen is no excuse whatsoever. Reality should always trump religion. Period.

  3. I am a different "Anonymous" from the one above. I agree with "That she "never expected" it to happen is no excuse whatsoever."
I now have learned that she has been thrown in jail and I hope she rots there. Also I have learned that she has been married multiple times and has spawned a multitude of brats having been impregnated by a multitude of cocks. She sounds as if she is just a Xtian whore. She seems to want to hog it all for herself.

  4. Well comrades I loves ya all for "sticking it out"...so to speak with me on this, and my endless line of deleted Queer pages. "Dragonfly" being the latest innocent tossed into the flames.

Btw I think I said somewhere in here that I was going to bring it back later in the season. I'm looking up domains. This ought to make it deletion proof as long as I don't post any pics or videos of Boy Scout jamboree gang bangs or fisting contests.

    'But I digress.

Mercy always Mercy. "The more a sinner doesn't deserve it the more they Should Have it".

Cute line from a sermon I gave at Saint Marks in the Bowery during their "Sermons from the Laity" thing many years ago. I appeared as a "Queer Anarchist Witch". Which was cool with them.

That bunch is called the "Artists Church". Everyone from Isadora Duncan to Jackson Pollack to Harry Hay to Allen Ginsberg to Keith Haring to "me" has spoken there.

My faith such as it is if you've been reading along all these years goes from none to sort of none. However I'm still guided by a bunch of Spiritual things that I can't name or explain.

Right now I'm in a sort of angry no-faith patch.

    It's probably the humidity.

Bottom line I really don't wanna hurt anybody.

Oh sure I'll rant about pliers blow torches acid piano wire, and other interesting tools of correction, but in the end I would probably just let the offender go.

...after kicking the bleeping crap out of them just to let them know how pissed I am.

It's the Catholic in me I guess.

Btw I read a few years back the order of nuns that taught, and beat the shit out of me was sued in a class action suit for the century of physical assaults, and humiliations they committed against little kids.

    I heard it bankrupted them.

    Justice is slow, but certain.

    I think I digressed again.

What were we talking about...right that gal in the slammer.

Well there she is, and there she'll stay till she comes around case closed. They didn't do this to them old time segregationists that refused the new Civil Rights laws in the 60's.

So I guess this is progress.

On the other hand I still say she acted out of her idea of faith so like I sez in another comment we're both going to heaven, and will be very surprised to see each other there.

    Vishnu is funny that way.

  5. Ed my dear friend I'm am so sorry, and distressed of hearing that a pal of yours has been condemned to the new American Gulag for the crime of love, and honest lust. These are indeed cruel, and dark days for the thoughtful, and kindly.

May your friend have the courage to endure his suffering with dignity.

    I just don't have words.

    Peace to you dear comrade

    1. Angela Davis has a movement going to close all prisons. I support her completely.

“Years ago I recognized my kinship with all living things, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on the earth. I said then and I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it; while there is a criminal element, I am of it; while there is a soul in prison, I am not free.”

    2. Sid, I don't have your current email. If you would email it to me (I think this site gives you the info), I could share details. You have corresponded with him.

  6. "When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind."

    1. Problem is: saying that in those words serves very nicely to separate the speaker from the rest of humanity who don't see it his way. Differences are important, and even should be celebrated - so long as one remembers that my difference does not make me better than someone else. Which is better, a red rose, a white lily, or a purple iris? Silly question, but aren't we all enriched that they all exist? I am what I am and calling myself what I am is not violence. Belittling someone else is. In the case under discussion, BOTH the clerk in question AND those railing against her have shown violent attitudes. That only feeds the ongoing violence of society.

    2. Monotheism has been the biggest curse to mankind in all of history. The quicker we get rid of this Sky God the better. He exists only in the deluded minds of men and causes them to wreak havoc on all of humanity.
This includes Ed Parch. More lions! Now!

  7. My dear Anonymous please no personal attacks. Ed like you is my friend. We are all free to believe in anything we wish. I remember many years ago when I began these pages a flame war erupted in the comments section.

It was traumatic for all concerned.

In the end as some here remember I 'had' to shut off the comments page because it had devolved to death threats. I know you'd never do that, but ya see what I'm saying. If one is really angry chill before you post.

Your point that religion, and monotheism in particular has been a disaster is made. Many here share this opinion,...some do not. If you've been reading you know that I was on the business end of all that brutal noise, but I don't hate any of my former tormentors. I'm not even really angry at them.

As I told my shrink once I really, if it were possible, I really would just like to speak to these people, and ask them why? Same with those that had done violent or emotionally hurtful racist things to me during my life.

I would ask "why" because such behavior is a mystery to me.

I dream of sitting person to person in a cafe or bar or a park bench, and asking these people why?

    How did all that happen?

What led their life path to do those things. Did they even know it was wrong at the time? Anyway that's more or less how i feel about all this So please,...no more personal anger stuff.

    Stay Tuned.

  8. Thanks Sidney! Now I see the light!

OK! OK! I will try to be more like the bible tells me to be:

"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

"That night the angel of the Lord went forth and struck down one hundred and eighty five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. Early the next morning, there they were, all the corpuses of the dead." (2 Kings 19:35 NAB)

"Cursed be he who does the Lords work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood." (Jeremiah 48:10 NAB)
