"Ya Kidding...104f!"...& film reviews

104 Degrees in Central Park and Power Use Set Records

Seeking battery-powered relief in Times Square, 1:15 p.m.

The mercury reached 104 degrees in Central Park at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, the hottest New York City has been since July 21, 1977, and only two degrees shy of the hottest temperature ever officially recorded in the city, the National Weather Service said.

The heat index, taking into account the humidity, is 115 degrees, the Weather Service said.
It is, as ever, hotter in Newark: 108 degrees as of 3 p.m., the highest temperature ever recorded there, breaking the record of 105 degrees set on Aug. 9, 2001, the Weather Service said.

The region’s utilities have been begging customers to do what they can to reduce the power load, by setting air-conditioner thermostats higher — at least 78 degrees — and turning off any unnecessary appliances.

On Friday morning, the New York Independent System Operator asked for help statewide from customers who had previously signed up for “demand response” programs, in which they cut demand in peak periods. They get a discount on electricity at other times.

( Shamelessly ripped off from the "Times" web-page.)

Comrades this is just fucking nuts. If you touch metal you actually burn ya self. Everything is hot as if from the oven. The subway platforms are 100f-120f according the the N.Y.Post.

...of course them two faced bastards never lie.

Going out for any length of time is now dangerous sez the Health Dept. As bad I guess as going out in a blizzard in your shorts. The same extreme. Seems every thing has ground to a semi-halt.

I say "Semi" 'cause this is the Emerald City.

We're out of our minds here so nothing actually stops us. The movies sure as hell ain't stopped. Air conditioned bliss with popcorn, and seriously over priced hot dawgs!

Okay here's the Sydneyland reviews of the Summer Crap so far.

"Man of Steel" or whatever they called the Super guy flick.

It was much better than I expected,..still sucked, but not as bad as the last one. A lot of carnage yelling flying around assorted bullshit, and wrecked cities.

It had a good beat, and was easy to dance to.

Let's see what was the others,...they're so forgettable. Umm..oh yeah "Star Trek"

In a word,..."Annoying"

Hey I'm old school Trek, and don't cotton to that bastard J.J. Adams blowing up Vulcan, and starting an entirely different time line.

The new film is just as vapid, and insulting to the old fans as the last. As a reason to get out of the summer sun okay it's beats root canal otherwise fuck'em.

"World War Z" If you never read the book, and know nothing about that plot this flick is fun. Even I liked about half of it. Heck I might have gone to see it even if it weren't 438f degrees outside.

Lots of scary Zacks over running everything in sight. The bastards can sprint like Jessie Owens on crack, and speed cocktails! Yeah, but it's a complete cop-out at the end.

I wish they had left the original last part in. Some sort of apocalyptic battle between the last of the human armed forces against literally a sea of Zacks from horizon to horizon!

...sounds like real fun to me!

Okay next that I managed to see before blacking out from heat prostration was "Pacific Rim".

A perfect mindless "Zam! Bam! Boom!" summer movie.

It has everything you could want. Cities torn to bits swell fighting scenes between the transformer like robots of mankind battling giant monsters from Dimension X!

That, and wisely short stupid love scenes, and jealousy bullshit from the entry level stars sprinkled all over this mess. I had a ball, and couldn't remember a thing it about once I left the movie house.

Exactly the effect you want from a good summer movie!

Still haven't seen "Iron Man III", come to think of it I don't think I saw "I.M. II" either. Aw well I'll let you know what's up when I see it this weekend.

There's other summer trash out there whose titles sort of mush togeher in my mind. If I end up seeing any of them I'll clue you in on that action as well.

Stay Tuned.
